Reason 6 of 6 not to use Vicarius Filii Dei

Reason 6: Ellen White never supported Vicarius Filii Dei

When I first started researching the meaning of 666, I discovered that Ellen White never supported the Vicarius Filii Dei interpretation. In the same token, she never dissuaded this view, but most likely, this was due to the fact that she hadn’t received any light on the subject…or did she?

You see, when researching 666, I discovered Ellen White made one statement about of 666. However, this statement is never mentioned by most of our popular authors and teachers. Why? Because it doesn’t fit the Vicarius Filii Dei narrative. Here is the statement; judge it for yourself:

“I saw all that ‘would not receive the mark of the Beast, and of his Image, in their foreheads or in their hands,’ could not buy or sell. [Revelation 13:15-17.] I saw that the number (666) of the Image Beast was made up…” A Word to the Little Flock p. 19

Now do you see it? The Vicarius Filii Dei narrative doesn’t fit the statement that Ellen White presented in her writings about 666.

If you are trying to fit this statement into the Vicarius Filii Dei narrative, you are trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. You can make it fit, but you’ll have to cut the hole in order to make the square peg fit. Some of you will do this and force Vicarius Filii Dei into the meaning of Ellen White’s statement so that you can guard this precious belief and feel secure that you are right. However, like me, a few of you will scratch your head and wonder…what in the world was Ellen White talking about?
Well, praise God that He has provided us with the answers. And I can safely tell you that Ellen White was correct—666 is a made-up number!
